Debuty home completed; dedicated on Sept. 6

The Debuty family has a new home.

 More than 100 East Tennessean’s joined Ross, Amanda and Raymond Debuty on the morning of Sept. 6th at the site of their new home. The Debuty’s cut a ribbon and received the keys to their new home in a Dedication Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the home.

The completion of the home comes seven months to-the-date of the fire that claimed the lives of four Debuty children.

More than 10,000 man-hours were contributed to the project, more than 400 volunteers helped rebuild the home, and more than 100 businesses from across East Tennessee donated materials, labor, and resources free-of-charge to the One Home Many Hands project.

The home has more than 2500 sq. ft. of living space, contains four bedrooms and three bathrooms and is also outfitted with a custom 500 sq. ft. playroom for surving child, Raymond Debuty, 3.

Organizers of the One Home Many Hands project would like to thank all volunteers and businesses who made this possible.

Progress Update

Final preparations are underway for the Sept. 6 dedication of the Debuty home in Blount County.

McGaha Electric Co. finished electrical work on the Debuty home this past weekend, while FunMakers of Knoxville installed a playground for Raymond Debuty, the only surviving Debuty child, on Wednesday. Kellems Wholesale Mulch Yard is providing 21 yds. of playground mulch and JRC Company is providing railroad ties to construct the border of the playground.

The One Home Many Hands project and Native Design and Landscaping are preparing for a Landscaping Volunteer Day on Saturday, Aug. 25. Native Design will provide plants and sod, while Hines Fine Soil will provide top soil, and Natural Resources Recovery will provide landscaping mulch.

Final preparations are being made inside the home and finishing work will be coordinated by Joseph Construction while others assist with landscaping outside on Saturday.

Dedication day set for Sept. 6

The One Home Many Hands Project announced on August 21, that it will dedicate the Debuty family home in Blount County, TN on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 at 10 a.m. Parking is available at the site.

Join more than 100 Blount County and Knox County businesses, hundreds of volunteers and community leaders in welcoming the Debuty’s into their new home.

Braden’s to provide furniture for home

Braden’sBraden’s Furniture of Knoxville confirmed today that it will provide the guest bedroom suit as well as dining room set for the Debuty family home.

The Bed Store to providing bedding for home

The Bed StoreRoger Cunningham, owner of The Bed Store of Knoxville, confirmed today that his company will provide king and queen-sized bedding for the Debuty home in Blount County.

Significant progress being made on home

Volunteers from Joseph Construction company constructed the deck, front porch, staircase and framed the driveway on Saturday, July 14th.

On Tuesday, July 17, workers from Walt Brown Concrete and LamCon Ready Mix poured the driveway for the home and volunteers from RM Technologies grouted kitchen tile.

Completion of electrical work and flooring/tile is expected this week.

Cabinets, flooring to be installed this week

Joseph Construction will install cabinetry in the Debuty home this week which is to be followed by installation of flooring and tile by three East Tennessee-based businesses.

Those businesses installing flooring and tile include Freshly Done Flooring Installations, Floors & More and Tile Right Flooring Installations.
