More than 75 volunteers from across East Tennessee constructed the walls and placed the roof on the Debuty home during the first Volunteer Day on Saturday, May 12th in Blount County (read the WVLT Volunteer TV CBS story here).
The day garnered significant progress on the Debuty home, while other volunteers helped clean up debris on the job site left from the early February fire that claimed the lives of four Debuty children.
Officials with the One Home Many Hands project hope to begin work this week on plumbing, electrical and HVAC, while also finishing work on the roof on Saturday, May 19th (read the Knoxville News Sentinel story here).
More official Volunteer Day’s will be announced later this week, and volunteers are encouraged to continue to sign up by calling the VOLunteer Hotline at 865.212.4500.
