Deluge doesn’t stop construction

A deluge of rain on Saturday, May 5 couldn’t stop progress for the One Home Many Hands project. Although the first Volunteer Day was officially postponed, construction workers and many volunteers refused to go home.

Volunteers worked on the home for more than six hours in the non-relenting rain and made significant progress by building and installing the flooring system for the home.

Officials for the One Home Many Hands project have announced that the Volunteer Day will be officially rescheduled for Saturday, May 12. All volunteers are asked to follow the same schedule. Gerry Eastman, president of Joseph Construction, the Knoxville-based company who is serving as construction manager for the project, said that on the 12th, volunteers will be framing interior and exterior walls and hopefully see progress on roof trusses being raised.

Project organizers estimate the project for completion in ten to 12 weeks.
